Creating and Modifying Child and Parent Item Relations

Introduction

The following screen allows you to create or modify the child or parent item relations.

Menu path

  • To create a child relation, go to Logistics/Reports/Search/Items, define the search criteria, and then click Show. In the Search: Items screen, select an item, click Configuration under the Monitor section, and then click Child.
  • To create a parent relation, go to Logistics/Reports/Search/Items, define the search criteria, and then click Show. In the Search: Items screen, select an item, click Configuration under the Monitor section, and then click Parent.
  • To edit a child or parent relation, go to Logistics/Reports/Search/Items, define the search criteria, and then click Show. In the Search: Items screen, select an item and then click Configuration under the Monitor section. In the Configuration: Item screen, click the item relation to be modified and then click Edit: Relations.  

Roles & rights

To create or modify item relations, function right 40 – Maintain Item relations is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.

For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.

Button

Save

Click this to save the details of the item relation.

Delete

Click this to delete the selected child or parent item.

Note: This is available only if you are editing the child or parent item.

Close

Click this to exit.

Item (Parent)

Click this link to view the item card of the selected item. For more information, see Viewing Item Cards.

Type

Select a relation type for the selected item. For more information, see Overview of Item Relation Types.

Item (Child)/Item (Parent)

Type or select a child or parent item for the selected item. This is mandatory.

Note: Item (Child) is available only if you have clicked Child in the Configuration: Item screen, and Item (Parent) is available only if you have clicked Parent in the Configuration: Item screen.
